People are popping corn with their hair straightener and it's weird

The internet seldom disappoints when it comes to crazy viral trends. And the latest one is no different.

People are using their hair straighteners to make popcorn, which is ridiculous as it is entertaining. Source: YouTube

The internet is rife with creative uses for hot hair-styling tools. But this one is truly ah-maize-ing. The latest internet trend to take hold is popping a single kernel of corn with a hair straightener.
And then filming it. Obviously.
It's hardly an efficient way to pop your corn. Look how long you have to wait!

But it does make your room smell delicious.
This isn't the first time people have used bathroom appliances for culinary pursuits. The internet has many examples of hairdryers being used to defrost frozen pastry, vegetables and meals, too. (Not recommended by the way: salmonella poisoining, der).
Though we're not one to say "No" to a fresh batch of popcorn (try our recipes for or ), we'd recommend you keep your hair straightener for styling your hair.
