YouTube is a well established treasure trove of irresistibly addictive and procrastination-feeding content of which miniature cooking is a perfect example.
A Korean user has recently filmed an absolutely mesmerising "how to" video where she makes tiny edible Krispy Kreme-like doughnuts complete with powdered sugar and a chocolate glaze. Mimine knows her way around a miniature kitchen and demonstrates her skills by making the delicious-looking treats with incredible dexterity.
Starting with a doughnut mix and the smallest rolling pin, she adds eggs and water before deep frying in a pot fit for tiny mouse paws. The finished result is about the size of your pinkie finger’s nail and Mimine completes the package by serving her half a dozen doughnuts in a pint-sized Krispy Kreme branded box.
The video has already attracted close to 300,000 views and follows on from a series of miniature kitchen experiences that includes how to wire a functioning blender that stands shorter than a toothpick, and a step-by step recipe for miniature rice-cake soup.
Minime isn’t alone in the world of small scale cooking and fellow YouTube sensation Miniature Space has accumulated a significant following with their range of tiny edible treats. Using Japanese made utensils and cooking ingredients they have created mini fried shrimp, mini cheeseburgers, mini pancakes and even mini macarons.
Similarly, Pocket Resort has an extensive collection of "pocket cooking" recipes that span savory and sweet dishes such as meatballs with broccoli, garlic roasted brussels sprouts and very festive strawberry Santas.
