Matcha tea

Matcha tea leaves are grown in the shade, picked young, and stone-ground into a fine powder. As it's consumed dissolved into hot water, you get the health benefits of the whole leaf and a vibrantly coloured brew.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tsp matcha powder

Instructions

1. Heat water in a kettle to just before boiling.

2. Add, or sift, matcha powder into a mug. Add a small amount of hot water from the kettle and use a whisk to make a paste. Continue pouring hot water and whisk to incorporate.

Cook's Notes

Oven temperatures are for conventional; if using fan-forced (convection), reduce the temperature by 20˚C. | We use Australian tablespoons and cups: 1 teaspoon equals 5 ml; 1 tablespoon equals 20 ml; 1 cup equals 250 ml. | All herbs are fresh (unless specified) and cups are lightly packed. | All vegetables are medium size and peeled, unless specified. | All eggs are 55-60 g, unless specified.
