Death toll from Thiik, Lou Paher and Luanyjang communal violence rises to 31

The fighting between the Luanyjang, Lou Paher and Thiik community communities claimed 31 lives from both sides of the conflict. The fighting occurred almost last two weeks ago, and the cause for a fight is cattle rustling, according to the Warrap State Minister of information in an exclusive interview with SBS Dinka.

The fighting between Luanjang, Thiik and Lon Paher took 31 lives, and 29 people sustained injuries. The conflict started after one young man from Luanyjang stole some cows from the neighbouring Lon Paher community whose cattle camp was at the Thiik community’s area.

According to the Minister of Information, the ‘young man was told to return the cows, but he refused to do so’. In return, the Lou Paher youth combined with the Thiik Youth organised again and went and raided Luanjang cows. The whole situation escalated into a large scale fighting.
