South Sudanese Senior Presidential Advisor Gen Kuol Manyang Juuk told SBS Dinka that his wish to leave the Government is not in protest but to be free to work in the agriculture sector. Last week, a letter was circulated on social media where Gen Kuol explained his intentions and why heed needed to leave the Government. Listen to this exclusive interview on SBS Dinka.

  • General Kuol Manyang said he would continue to support President Kiir
  • Kuol said he resigned in 2015, but the President never let him go
  • Kuol sees opportunities in the agricultural sector.

Gen Kuol Manyang submitted his resignation in 2015 and reminded President Kiir in 2018 that he wanted to go to the private sector, but President Kiir has not allowed that. However, Gen Kuol promised to continue to support the leadership and the SPLM party.

“I wrote the letter which is circulating and that because I wanted to make a clarification on when I made my intention of wanting to leave the Government known to President Kiir in 2015. Some people wanted to create a problem out of my wishes to go into the private sector to farm, but farming is another form of development. Therefore, my desire to leave the Government is not a protest because I am doing it to motivate and encourage our people to see agriculture as another way of raising revenues for the country. Of course, my President has my support, and he will always, but people should know that I was clarifying.”
