Kyrgios’ helping hand to people struggling during coronavirus crisis

“Please don't go to sleep with an empty stomach […] I will be more than happy to share whatever I have”, said the Greek Australian tennis star in an Instagram post.

Nick Kyrgios has offered to help those hardest hit financially during the pandemic, joining a support movement through a recent Instagram post.

The heart-warming message reads:

“If ANYONE is not working/not getting an income and runs out of food, or times are just tough ... please don't go to sleep with an empty stomach,” Kyrgios wrote.

“Don't be afraid or embarrassed to send me a private message. I will be more than happy to share whatever I have.

“Even just for a box of noodles, a loaf of bread or milk. I will drop it off at your doorstep, no questions asked!”
Amongst those who publicly praised the initiative was co-athlete Matt Reid, posting on Twitter the update on the realisation of Kyrgios’ pledge.
“Tomorrow I will be doing as many deliveries as I can throughout the day to the nearest people I have been in contact with.

“If I haven't read your message yet, trust me I will do my absolute best to get to yours,” Kyrgios wrote on Tuesday night, extending an open call for hope and courage to “international friends around the world.”

Reid commented that knowing Kyrgios, the news on his initiative was no surprise.

“As someone who has travelled with Nick for a while this comes as no shock - hopefully people are starting to see the real Nick..”
The Greek Australian tennis player has been criticised over time for his on-court stunts.

But earlier this year, Kyrgios was one of the quickest to use his profile to support fire-ravaged communities across Australia, calling on Tennis Australia to organise a fundraising event and continuing to raise money as part of relief efforts.
