Melbourne Greek artists join fundraiser for International Women’s Day

The Greek Community of Melbourne has joined forces with Philhellene restaurant for this year’s International Women’s Day fundraiser.

The fundraising event supports the work of Royal Women Hospital’s CASA House - Centre Against Sexual Assault.

“A significant day to remember how far we’ve come, and how far we still need to go towards gender equality,"  said GCM Vice President, Anthea Sidiropoulos.

The music night – dinner event, initiated by restaurant owners, John and Susie Rerakis, features local artists Kat (violin) Paddy (lute) and TAXITHI’S Helen and Andrew Patterson.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to enjoy female centric and Hellenic inspired artwork on display by painter Efrossini Chaniotis. The pieces will be available for purchase, with part proceeds of sales to be donated to the CASAHouse cause. 

Speakers on the night include Jenna Tuke – CASAHouse Coordinator, Maria Vamvakinou MP - Member for Hume / Calwell, Rena Frangiouthaki - Long life journalist and broadcaster 3xy, Bill Papastergiadis – President GCM with Co-Vice President Anthea Sidiropoulos and Maria Dimopoulos - Chair - Harmony Alliance , Reconciliation Victoria. CasaHouse advocate and former Health Minister Jenny Mikakos will also attend.
