During this Australia summer, there were at least four reported incidents of Nepali students drowning in Australian waters of whom two are still classified as missing. There were similar stories last summer too. Also, hundreds of Nepali international students enrolled at various private registered training organisations (RTOs) are also in a lurch after it was discovered the RTOs don't yet have required accreditations or have had their registrations cancelled by the regulatory authority for breaching their operating conditions. Although there are many organisations who working towards helping the students or their welfare, it has become evident with the latest incidents that their message is not getting through or being effectively disseminated. But, what is the Government of Nepal doing for the Nepali international students here in Australia? And, how is easy is it to access any support available through the Nepali Embassy in Canberra? We ask Chargés d'Affaires ad interim at the embassy, Ms Durapada Sapkota.
