NSW Cabinet Ministers and representatives of Griffith City Council visited the Griffith Gurdwara today to meet and discuss the local community issues.
Manjit Singh Lally, General Secretary, Gurdwara Singh Sabha Society, Griffith thanked and welcomed the opportunity to meet and host discussions with the NSW government representatives.
“It was an important occasion for the Griffith Sikh community. We thank the Premier and the other members of Cabinet for their time and this special visit,” said Mr Singh.
“We are pleased to know that NSW government acknowledges Sikh community’s contribution not only to Griffith but to this whole region.”
“We really appreciate the financial contribution of $20,000 made towards annual Sikh games, which will help make this event even more successful.”
“We are also thankful to our local MP Mr Adrian Piccoli who has been instrumental in making this meeting possible. With his help we are able to convey our community matters to the NSW government.”
“We thank Mr Piccoli and Griffith Mayor John Dal Broi for their outstanding support to the local community."

“I acknowledge and thank the Griffith Sikh community for their contribution not only to Griffith but the entire region. And this contribution is not only economically but also culturally,” said Mr Dal Broi.
“We in Griffith are blessed to have so many people from all around the world who have settled here bringing in their culture, expertise and adding to this wonderful community. “
Adrian Piccoli, the local MP from Murray welcomed Premier Gladys Berejiklian and the Cabinet Ministers.
During her speech, Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced a grant of $20,000 to help support funds for the annual Sikh games event.
“It is a huge honour and privilege for us to share this very important celebration and ceremony today," Ms Berejiklian said.
"I have to confess that it is for the first time that I have been to a Sikh temple. I am very proud that I had this opportunity at Griffith."
“I really appreciate the learning of the opportunity Sikh community has to share in their wonderful culture, but also the some of the challenges which have to be tackled in future.”
“You have made rural NSW your home. Not only have you made it home but have also attracted thousands of your Sikh fellow men and women, not only to contribute to the local economy but also to participate at the games, and that’s a wonderful opportunity.”
“It is a wonderful experience here to witness the wonderful opportunities that exist for our communities in the rural regions of NSW.”

Every June long weekend, the Sikh community hold a two-day event at Ted Scobie Oval against the backdrop of Scenic Hill in Griffith.
The annual meet is a representation of the Sikh community’s competitive spirit, an event that forms an integral part of the community’s social calendar.
