Australian state announces skilled migration program for 2018/2019

The New South Wales government's Skilled Nominated (190) Program aims to attract skilled candidates from across the world. The occupations' list is based on the demand in various industries.

The New South Wales government has announced the new skilled nominated program for the financial year 2018 – 2019.

The ‘190 skilled migration visa’ is a permanent visa for eligible highly skilled workers to help meet skill needs in the state of New South Wales, according to the government’s .

For the year 2018 – 2019 More than a 100 nominated occupations are in the skilled nominated visa (subclass 190) required by the NSW state.

The major areas of occupation include Healthcare, Business and Finance, Engineering and Information & Communications Technology.

Other fields include Building Trades, Metal Trades, Automotive Trades, Science and Education.

The skills and occupations on the list are determined through employment data and feedback from the New South Wales industry.

Nominated occupations in health include medical radiation therapist, nuclear medicine technologist, nursing clinical director, welfare centre manager, sonographer, optometrist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, podiatrist, psychiatrist, emergency medicine specialist, pathologist, diagnostic and interventional radiologist and midwife.

There are several areas specific to registered nursing that include, aged care, child and family health, community health, critical care and emergency, disability and rehabilitation, medical, medical practice, mental health, perioperative, surgical and paediatric.

In the engineering field, nominated occupations include civil engineering draftsperson, civil engineering technician, electrical engineering draftsperson and electrical engineering technician.

Information technology and communications technology include ICT business analyst, systems analyst, analyst programmer, developer programmer, software engineer, ICT Security specialist, computer network and systems engineer, telecommunications engineer and telecommunications network engineer.
