One of the oldest towns in Karachi, Liyari has a population of over half a million and is a famous football town in Pakistan.

Throughout the year, local tournaments are held with active participation of locals. Although the grounds don’t have any green tops, players still enjoy every bit of the great game.
Pakistan is not even in the top 200 teams in the FIFA Football ranking but that does not stop the locals when Football World Cup arrives after four years.

The atmosphere turns global and fans raise the flag of their favourite teams on top of their houses.

The walls throughout the town are painted with colours of national flags of the finalist teams in the World Cup. Local residents participate in painting the walls which takes few weeks to complete.

However, it is the love of Brazil that takes over the rest of the team. People in Lyari are extremely passionate about the Brazilian players and wear their colours throughout the tournament.

One of the local residents of Liyari, Asad Baluch said that his dream is to see Brazil win.

" I love how Brazil plays; their game is so smooth and fun to watch. I want to them to win the WorldCup for the whole world."

For Shah Baluch, Neymar Jr. is the key to Brazil's victory.

"After Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, the big player that has made a difference in Brazil game is my hero Neymar. He performs well in big games. He is scoring in group stages which is great. Now I want to see him win the Final for us."

During the group stages, Brazil won against Costa Rica (2 - 0), drew against Switzerland ( 1 - 1) and against Serbia scored a (2 - 0) win to secure a place in Round of 16. After beating Mexico ( 2 - 0), they have set their eyes on the Cup with three matches to play.

And every win becomes a festive event for Liyari. People come together and dance on traditional music and enjoy their heroes' victories.
