An internal police review is being conducted after witnesses claimed that a Sydney cyclist was shoved from his bike by an officer at a busy city intersection.
Police say that the cyclist was riding without a helmet and rode through a red light at an intersection in Darlinghurst on Wednesday, prompting a motorcycle police officer to pursue the man and try to stop him several times.
Police say the 30-year-old cyclist then fell from his bike near College St at around 8.30am.
However, witnesses who reported the incident to the Bicycle Network say they saw the officer pull up behind the man and shove him from his bike.

"A police motorcycle which had his lights on but I didn't hear a siren, pulled up. Literally just pushed him off his bike," witness Marcus De Giorgio told Fairfax media.
An infringement notice was issued to the cyclist, police say.
"There needs to be a full explanation of why the rules were not followed," Bicycle Network chief executive Craig Richards said.
From March, riding without photo identification will result in a $106 fine and not wearing a helmet or holding onto a moving car will incur one of $319.
Running a red light will cost $425.
