Australia's official entry in Eurovision 2024 didn't qualify for the Grand Final — but an Australian could still win the competition.

Electric Fields competed in the first Semi-Final with their song One Milkali (One Blood), which was the first time an on the Eurovision stage.

But with Electric Fields eliminated from the competition, Australia's attention has turned to the Sydney teenager representing Cyprus, who has qualified for the final.

Who is representing Cyprus at Eurovision 2024?

Silia Kapsis is representing Cyprus at Eurovision 2024 and has qualified for the Grand Final with her song Liar, written by Dimitris Kontopoulos and Elke Tiel.

The 17-year-old is the youngest entrant in this year's competition and is the second Australian in a row to represent Cyprus after Andrew Lambrou in 2023.
Lambrou finished 12th with his song Break A Broken Heart.

Speaking to ABC Radio after the first Semi-Final, Kapsis said was "crazy" to have 260 million people watching her perform.
"It is quite a large number, it is a bit nerve-wracking but you just go out there and you get the energy from the audience and you believe in yourself," she said.

"It's a really great feeling."

Why is an Australian representing Cyprus at Eurovision?

Kapsis is eligible to compete for Cyprus due to her heritage.

She was born to a Greek Cypriot father and a mother from Thessaloniki in Greece.
She connected with producer Kontopoulos via Instagram, and the two worked together on the song, which was later selected as Cyprus's entry for Eurovision.

Who is Silia Kapsis?

Kapsis was born and raised in Sydney and has been dancing and singing since she was four.

She has been a lead singer for the Australian Youth Performing Arts Company and released her debut song Who Am I? in 2022.

Kapsis said that with Electric Fields out of the competition, she felt she now represents both Australia and Cyprus.

“I was born in Australia and I have been raised there and I live there and I can’t wait to come back, but I definitely feel like I’m representing both countries,” she said.

"It’s a great thing, it’s a beautiful thing, so I’m really happy that I get to do that.”

Kapsis said she had spoken to Electric Fields at the competition, describing them as "incredible".

"They are super talented and I love how they incorporated Aboriginal culture in the performance," she said.

"They are amazing."

When is the Eurovision final?

The Eurovision Grand Final will be broadcast live on SBS at 5am AEST on Sunday 12 May and repeated at 7.30pm. It will also be available on.
