Hillary Clinton to spend election night under actual glass ceiling

Hillary Clinton will spend election night under the glass ceiling at a New York convention centre - a fitting venue given her determination to crack the glass ceiling of US politics.

US Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton appears to fancy her chances of becoming America's first female leader, if her choice of venue on election night is anything to go by.

After becoming the first female presidential nominee of a major political party, Mrs Clinton congratulated her supporters at July's Democratic convention for helping put "the biggest crack in that glass ceiling yet".

Now, her campaign has confirmed that she will deliver remarks to supporters and volunteers on November 8 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York - which has a glass ceiling.
With less than two weeks of campaigning to go, polls show Mrs Clinton holding a solid lead over Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Her odds of taking the top job appear to be higher than back in 2008, when she conceded to Barack Obama during the Democratic primaries stage.

“Although we weren't able to shatter that highest, hardest glass ceiling this time, thanks to you, it's got about 18 million cracks in it,” Ms Clinton told her supporters in 2008.

“The path will be easier next time."
