Phone outages have been reported across Australia after several operators that wholesale services from Telstra lost connection.

Outages have been reported in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Darwin and Hobart among users of Aldi and Woolworths phones.

Telstra said the fault was confined only to smaller operators that wholesale from its network.

“There is no issue with Telstra’s 3G and 4G network," a spokesman said.

“There was a vendor platform issue that impacted mobile virtual network operating services for a small number of wholesale customers.
“The majority of those services have already been restored. We apologise to these wholesale customers for any inconvenience.”'
However, the outage follows a string of Telstra outages in recent months, including a five hour loss of 3 and 4G on May 21.

Millions of Australians were left without internet access during the outage and even after restoring services, Telstra was unable to pinpoint the cause of the fault.
