We are celebrating NAIDOC across the network with coverage across all our platforms, exploring this year's theme 'Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!'.
The week of programming kicks off with the National NAIDOC Awards, live from Narrm (Melbourne) which are back for the first time in 3 years.
On air, NITV has curated a special lineup of programming throughout the week not to be missed with the premiere of crime drama series True Colours, documentary series Off Country, and the return of Australia's all-Indigenous breakfast show, Big Mob Brekky plus much more.
SBS On Demand will be presenting two bespoke NAIDOC shelves on NITV's channel page and there will be a dedicated section to celebrate all the National NAIDOC Award Winners.

NAIDOC Awards Pre Show

Our coverage of the kicks off with all the glitz and glamour live from the red-carpet Pre Show hosted by Luke Carroll and Narelda Jacobs as they interview all the stars from the Melbourne Convention Centre.
NATIONAL NAIDOC Awards 2022

The ceremony will be hosted by television presenter Shelley Ware and comedian Steven Oliver.
The awards celebrate the outstanding contributions across ten awards categories - Person of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, Female Elder, Male Elder, Sportsperson, Youth of the Year, Creative Talent, Caring for Country and Culture, Education and Innovation.
Following the awards, we will also have a wrap program hosted by Yokayi Footy's Megan Waters and Gilbert McAdam, and country music star Loren Ryan, which will be exclusively broadcast on our Facebook page.
Araatika! Rise Up

Written and directed by Larissa Behrendt and starring Dean Widders, Araatika! Rise Up follows Widders' personal journey to share his culture with the world.
In 2012, a group of Indigenous NRL players including Dean Widders, Preston Campbell, Timana Tahu and George Rose, with help from dancer and choreographer Sean Choolburra, came together to develop a pre-game ceremony that would be a response to New Zealand's much loved and respected Haka.

The film also follows Widders' own personal family story and features interviews with his mother and father.
Big Mob Brekky

Tune in weekday mornings throughout NAIDOC Week for a yarn with the Big Mob Brekky Crew as they check in with mob right across the country for a feed, laugh and of course all the latest in black news and entertainment.
Hosted by NITV's Tanisha Stanton and actor Luke Carroll, as they are joined by Bush Tucker Bunjie, Rae Johnston, Tyrone Pynor, Matty Mills, Bianca Hunt, Dean Widders and Mark Olive.

True Colours (NITV/SBS Simulcast – Premiere)

Starting on Monday and concluding on Thursday, True Colours is a four-part miniseries Written and Directed by Erica Glynn and Steven McGregor. Rarriwuy Hick stars in this gripping murder mystery joined alongside a steller cast including Luke Arnold, Warren H. Williams and Miranda Otto.
Set in Northern Territory's Mparntwe and Yeperenye, Hick plays Detective Toni Alma, who is assigned to investigate a suspicious car accident which soon turns into a hunt for a killer. True Colours is a murder mystery like no other which explores culture, community, family and one woman's pursuit to find her place within it.
True Colours is NITV and SBS's first scripted co-commission and is in English and Arrernte language.

Off Country (NITV Premiere)

Off Country is a candid four-part documentary series following the lives of seven Indigenous students over a year at the prestigious Geelong Grammar School, grappling with family tragedy, mental health and identity issues.
Wrestling with their conflicting identities as the students move between boarding and home life, this series creates a historic record of one of Australia's key Indigenous education pathways and a complex portrait of what it is to be a First Nations child in Australia today.
The documentary is driven by the students' stories and is told from their own perspectives and in their own words. Off Country combines personal storytelling and features a very intimate perspective of First Nations youth.
Living Black Special: True Colours Behind the Scenes

Ningla A-Na (1972) – Remastered

A rare addition to the study of Australian History. Made in 1972, Ningla A-Na is a documentary which records the events surrounding the establishment of the Aboriginal tent embassy on the lawns of Parliament House.
It incorporates interviews with black activists, the work of the National Black Theatre, Aboriginal Legal Service and Aboriginal Medical Service, plus footage from the demonstrations and arrests at the embassy.
NAIDOC Week is a national celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, history and culture, and runs from July 3-10.
