Indigenous Australians have shared their views about Adam Goodes on social media after reliving the controversial end of his career through the documentary The Final Quarter on television last night.

The film debuted at the Sydney Film Festival in June and was on Thursday.

It revisits the racism that drove the Sydney Swans star into retirement.

The AFL recently apologised unreservedly for its failure “to call out racism and not standing up for one of our own.”

Many First Nations viewers who watched last night reacted with anger and heartbreak, while others hoped it would be a catalyst for change.
