A new eight-part spin-off series of the 2019 film Top End Wedding, created, executive produced and written by Miranda Tapsell and Joshua Tyler will be set and filmed in the Northern Territory.

The series serves as a sequel to the film and brings back Tapsell's character Lauren, who is described as a "dynamic Indigenous lawyer ticking off life goals in Adelaide" as she faces new challenges.
Tapsell, a Larrakia and Tiwi woman, said she can't wait for audiences to see more of the characters from Top End Wedding.

"Words can't describe how excited I am to bring Lauren, Ned and the Top End back to your screens," said Tapsell.

"We all love a happy ending but what happens after happily ever after? We can't for you to find out!"

Top End Bub sees Lauren and her now husband, Ned (Gwilym Lee - Bohemian Rhapsody, The Great) reluctantly move to the Top End after they unexpectedly become adoptive parents to Lauren's eight-year-old niece.

The couple now have to juggle new challenges as parents and try to keep their marriage together, while Lauren must also come to terms with cultural responsibilities and leave behind her individualist lifestyle.

Co-creator and co-writer, Joshua Tyler said he loved reviving the characters from the film for Top End Bub.
"It has been fun to dive back into the world of Top End Wedding, a world that means so much to us and to our audience," Tyler said.

"A romantic setting full of funny characters who face heartbreaking challenges in heart-warming ways. I am thrilled to be collaborating with such an incredible team."

Senior Development Executive at Amazon MGM Studios, Sarah Christie, said Prime Video were proud to be bringing the Top End crew back to the screens.

"Miranda Tapsell and Joshua Tyler have created a series that speaks straight to the heart, and celebrates the messiness and beauty of family, love and community," Christie said.

"We are thrilled to be working with them, along with producers Goalpost Pictures and directors Christian van Vuurren and Shari Sebbens in capturing the stunning and uniquely world of the Top End."
