The Union Cycliste International (UCI) will not alter its plans to hold the elite men's time trial of the Road World Championships on the final day of the Tour de France according to Wielerflits.nl.

The Elite Men's Time Trial at the 2020 World Championships in Aigle, Switzerland is set for September 20, the same day as the final stage in Paris on the Champs-Élysées.

With a number of top contenders for the general classification in the Tour de France the same names that would be considered among the favourites for the world title, the clash will force tricky decisions for many riders.

Former world champions in the discipline, Tom Dumoulin and Tony Martin (both Jumbo-Visma), are down to do the Tour presently.

The top three finishers from 2019, Rohan Dennis (INEOS), Remco Evenepoel (Deceuninck-Quickstep) and Fillipo Ganna (INEOS), are all currently scheduled to ride the Giro d'Italia, and look to again be in the best position to fight out the podium.

Notable riders likely to ride the Tour and be a factor at the World Championships include Wout van Aert, Primoz Roglic (both Jumbo-Visma), Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates), Geraint Thomas, Chris Froome (both INEOS) and Julian Alaphillipe (Deceuninck-QuickStep).

The women's elite time trial will take place just two days after the conclusion of the Giro Rosa, the premier stage race on the UCI Women's World Tour. Similar tough decisions are to be expected there, with the top climbers among the best against the clock as well.
