On Sunday, Dyball attacked off the break with two laps to go during the 158km race in Railton, Tasmania.
The Team Sapura rider ensured he was in or near multiple attacks the entire race.
"BridgeLane and Drapac had quite a few guys in their teams so I had to be at the front the whole day," the 29-year-old Sydneysider said.
"The break was originally 15 or so. Then people started missing turns and eventually that split into six of us on the third lap.
"With two laps to go, I decided to just give it a little bit of a test because again people started missing turns and then I got a gap and that was it. I sort of never looked back after that."
Dyball quickly established a considerable advantage over the chasers, ending the day just over four minutes ahead of Jason Christie (NZ) and Chris Harper (BridgeLane).
"The first time check I got was just over a minute to three guys chasing, so I had to keep pushing for a bit because I think the peloton was only two minutes behind me.
"But on the last lap it was over three minutes and I could back it off a little bit and it kept going out after that."
"I've been close in the TT multiple times and reasonably close in the road race. so it's good to finally get at least one gold medal. Two is even better. "
On Saturday, New Zealander Sharlotte Lucas won the women's road race over Australian Justine Barrow and fellow New Zealander Kirsty McCallum with Barrow's Roxsolt team mate Sarah Gigante taking out the Under 23 category.
“It is actually quite a relief,” Lucas explained. “I had a terrible last couple of days with my time trial bike. It broke on the plane and I basically had to stick it back together and had mechanical problems yesterday, so I was disappointed with that. To come out today and back up from last year has been awesome.”
As race favourite and defending champion, Lucas was heavily marked by the peloton.
"It was quite a mission. I had a couple of goes to get away, but we were reeled back in and I knew obviously on that last lap what I needed to do to win that sprint finish."
“It is quite a technical one coming around that corner, but it is quite uphill, so I was happy to take out the win.
“Sarah [Gigante] put a decent gap on me actually and I was like oh I’m going to have to make this gap up, but I managed to do it and flew past her on the line."
