Geraint Thomas' 36-hour ride on Zwift for charity

Mirroring the shifts of NHS workers, Geraint Thomas has hit Zwift for three consecutive 12-hour sessions on the bike to raise funds for NHS Charities Together, smashing his initial goal of nearly $200,000 (AUD) on the first day. 'G' faces his final shift this afternoon (AEST).

“Like everyone around the country I have been humbled by the hard work, bravery and professionalism of the NHS," Thomas said on his GoFundMe page.

"I was chatting to Sa (ed-his wife Sara) to see what we could do to show our support for all the front line workers so, I’m doing the only thing I know how to do and getting on my bike!

"I know this is a hard time for everyone but I hope that people will be able to make even the smallest donation to a great cause. And if people are keen to join, sign up and ride with me."

Hundreds of people have joined the Welshman on the Zwift platform either on the bike or as spectators and also watched the livestream on his . He has also attracted a vast amount of publicity for the challenge, conducting TV and other interviews with British press while on the bike, his efforts also earning a special gift for a key worker couple:
