An image of the photo finish from the Men's 100m Final in the Commonwealth Games has prompted commentators to question whether the decision to hand Yohan Blake third place was the right call.
The 100m Final shocked fans on Monday night when South Africa's Akani Simbine won gold and Henricho Bruinjies took silver, leaving the second fastest man of all time Yohan Blake to settle for bronze.
Blake finished in a dead heat time of 10.19 with Nigeria's Seye Ogunlewe, but was rewarded bronze after officials claimed he had a quicker reaction time and he also finished fastest in the qualifying heats.
But a photo released of the close finish has some questioning whether Blake was correctly awarded third place.
The Gold Coast Commonwealth Games official Twitter account responded to the uproar with an explanation why Blake was deemed to have finished third.
"Hi, it’s great everyone is so excited about such a close finish! The IAAF rules state it is the torso that needs to cross the line, and specifically not the head, neck or limbs. Thanks," the tweet read.
Simbine's gold medal is the first time the crown for the 100m Final in the Commonwealth Games has left the Caribbean.
