Pogacar followed attacks by overall rivals Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-QuickStep) and Vingegaard on the slopes of the final climb, before powering away from the latter in the final 500 metres to cross the summit a five-time stage winner.
Vingegaard crossed the line seven seconds behind Pogacar, while Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost) was the last rider to be caught from the breakaway, coming in third on the day at 23 seconds behind the yellow jersey.

The Slovenian now has the opportunity to go for his sixth stage win in tomorrow's individual time trial before lifting his third Tour de France title in Nice and becoming the first rider since 1998 to win the Giro d'Italia and Tour de France in the same season.
"I’m really happy I got another stage win. Just one more day to go - the ITT," Pogacar said post-stage.
"That one, I’m going to enjoy it too. I will just try to come home safely to Nice, as it is a very hard course. I hope I can enjoy the crowds.
"I’m lost for words. So happy… I hope I can share this victory with my teammates today, and also tomorrow. Five stage wins are more than enough. One and the yellow jersey would have been enough, really. But you never brake in cycling. Jonas has gone through some tough days, but he showed today that he is not easy to crack and that he is a real fighter."
It was indeed a significant bounce back stage for Vingegaard, who launched his first real attack of the race up the final climb, dropping Evenepoel only a day after clinging to the Belgian's wheel on the Isola 2000.
He now sits five minutes and 14 seconds behind Pogacar in the overall standings, while Evenepoel lost more substantial time and is eight minutes and 4 seconds back now from the yellow jersey with one more stage to race.
With the last road stage of the race now over, Biniam Girmay (Intermarche-Wanty) has officially wrapped up the points classification in a historic achievement for the Eritrean, who also won three stages.
Carapaz turned in another impressive climbing performance to take maximum points on each summit and secure the King of the Mountains classification, while Mark Cavendish (Astana-Qazaqstan) finished once again inside the time cut and now has just one ride left in his final Tour de France.
