Queer Eye's Antoni Porowski has spoken of his support for co-star Jonathan Van Ness at the Emmys, after the style expert revealed over the weekend that he's living with HIV.

Walking the purple carpet at today's Emmy Awards, Porowski elaborated on the sense of pride he feels for his friend.

"It's a discussion we've had prior," Porowski told Variety. "I am incredibly proud of him. I think it took a tremendous amount of courage and vulnerability. He knows I'm his number one fan."
Speaking to  ahead of the release of his autobiography Over The Top, Van Ness revealed that he is a "member of the beautiful H.I.V.-positive community.

"I’ve had nightmares every night for the past three months because I’m scared to be this vulnerable with people," he shared. "There are issues that need to be talked about."

Opening up about why he had chosen to reveal his status, he said: "When Queer Eye came out, it was really difficult because I was like, ‘Do I want to talk about my status?’.

“And then I was like, ‘The Trump administration has done everything they can do to have the stigmatisation of the LGBTIQ+ community thrive around me.’ ”

Sharing the news on social media, Van Ness was met with an outpouring of love from his Queer Eye co-stars and fans, with culinary expert Antoni Poroswki writing: “Love you proud of you.”

Style icon Tan France added “LOVE YOU, JACKI” while Bobby Berk wrote, “So proud of you.”
