The cast and crew of new stage musical The Cher Show have enjoyed a surprise visit from the icon herself, with Cher attending a recent preview screening at the Oriental Theatre in Chicago.
The gay icon, who spent time with cast members backstage following the show, told that while she enjoyed the production, it "needs work."
“I’m not supposed to say that, but I don’t care,” she added.
“Sometimes, my mind was wandering," the star said.
"I think those are the parts that are going to get better.”
She continued: “I am pushing them to do three dance songs in a concert-style way at the end, a bit like they do in Mamma Mia."
“I think the audience would like that.”
Despite offering some constructive criticism, Cher said the Broadway-bound stage show was "much, much better than I thought it would be.”
“I am the most critical person who ever drew breath,” she said.
“If they can impress me, they’re doing good.”
The Cher Show opens later this month at the Oriental Theatre in Chicago, before opening at the Neil Simon Theater on Broadway in December.
