To celebrate International Transgender Day of Visibility last week, RuPaul's Drag Race season 6 contestant Gia Gunn announced her transition, and came out to her fans as a transgender woman.

The popular drag queen told her fans that she has been on Hormone Replacement Therapy for a year, and identifies as a woman.

“I thought I would dedicate today in the spirit of being visible to share my transition with all of you.

"I have been on hormone replacement therapy for about a year and I identify as female and I am indeed transgender.”

She also makes a callout to her followers, asking anyone who is transgender, transitioning, or struggling with their gender identity to contribute in the comments, encouraging them to 'be visible' on the day of awareness for trans visibility.
She says to the camera, "Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey… if you are in transition, or struggling with your gender identity, I want to hear from you in the comments and let’s be visible!"
After posting the video, Gunn received an enormous amount of support and thousands of congratulatory comments from fans.

Since, she has published two images openly stating how much more relaxed and happier she is now that she is living her "true life":
She joins other RuPaul's Drag Race contestants who came out as transgender after appearing on the show, including Jiggly Caliente, Kenya Michaels, Stacy Lane Matthews, Carmen Carrera and Sonique. Season 5 queen Monica Beverly Hills famously came out as a transgender woman on the show, and the current season (9) includes Peppermint, who is the first-ever openly transgender woman cast on the show.
