Trans people, supporters and allies are paying tribute to the trans community and sharing tips on how best to support members of the trans community on Trans Day of Remembrance.
Vigils and remembrance ceremonies will be held across the country to mark the Trans Day of Remembrance (using #tdor on social media), commemorating trans men and women who have lost their lives to violence and discrimination.

Trans woman Stefanie Pest shared a how-to guide on Twitter for those wishing to support the trans community. The tweets includes tips like "Listen, Be Kind and Understand Your Privilege."
Sydney Star Observer editor Matthew Wade said the day is a stark reminder that the world remains unsafe for trans people.
"On allies need to renew their efforts to support and stand beside the trans community. When it comes to the fight for full equality, we're in this together," he tweeted.
Greens Senator Mehreen Faruqi said the day was a chance to remember and acknowledge those who had lost their lives to violence.
"Too many lives lost. Today we remember and acknowledge," she tweeted.
For Deakin University academic Joshua Badge today is about recognising that trans men and women were are the highest risk of assault in the LGBTIQ+ community.
"Today is a day to remember the trans and gender diverse people who have been killed. Trans men and women experience the highest levels of verbal & physical assault in the LGBTIQ+ community and we must work to remedy this," Badge said.
Social media user Karri said she felt lucky to live in a time where her transition was accepted by family and friends, a privilege many other trans people do not enjoy.
"I've been incredibly privileged to transition at a time where my finances & career are pretty stable, and friends, family & society in general have been supportive. A lot of trans folk don't have those things. A lot of trans folk end up killed. Today we remember them," she tweeted.
