The dialogue of this year is 'Share the Dream'. Six thousand and six hundred athletes and officials from 71 countries of Commonwealth have participated in this year's competition including Bangladesh. Mark Knowles from Australia and Shooter Abdullah Hel Baki from Bangladesh have carried the national flag in the opening parade.

There are some disciplines that will be held in Brisbane, Cairns, and Townsville, although the original organizer of this season is Gold Coast. This year's competition will be held in the maximum 23 disciplines in the history of Commonwealth Games. There will be 7 para-sports. Athletes will compete to win 275 gold medals.
The host country Australia is ready to win the highest number of gold medals in the game. The Kangaroos were at the top of the medal tally 11 times in the previous 20 season. Australia holds the record of winning 87 golds in the 1994 Canada Games.

Athletes from Bangladesh are participating in swimming, boxing, shooting, weightlifting, wrestling, and athletics. Bangladesh is looking forward to winning the shooting medal in this season too as the previous four seasons. The mission of Bangladesh in the Commonwealth Games begins Thursday with the participation in swimming. The very first success of Bangladesh in the Commonwealth Games came in Auckland in 1990, although Bangladesh is participating in the competition since 1978.

Meanwhile, for the last few days, Bangladeshi expatriates have been spending time in the festive environment with Bangladeshi players. On behalf of the committee, The General Secretary of Bangladesh Society Gold Coast Taraque Saifulla has said that there is a plan to throw a reception party to welcome the players of Bangladesh who are participating.
Gold Coast is famous as a tourist city. Moreover for this huge game; the host country Australia is trying hard to make this amicable and harmonious event, a memorable and flawless one.
