Community organisations those who are working on community safety issues can apply for funding from the Community Safety Fund. Organisations or local businesses that have an idea to prevent crime in their area are eligible for application.

The Community Safety Fund provides up to $250,000 for projects that:

  • address local crime hot spots
  • address anti-social behaviour in communities
  • promote safer and inclusive use of public space; and
  • promote collaborative approaches to community safety, crime reduction, prevention and detection initiatives.
Minister for Police Troy Grant said, " local people are in the best position to understand how to deal with local problems."

“The best crime prevention strategies are often the ones that come from the grassroots level.”

Since 2015 this fund has supported 52 projects; including street lighting to improve resident safety, youth-focused initiatives and an Apprehended Violence Order education program to reduce domestic violence.
