4th May marks World Maternal Mental Health Day raising awareness of maternal mental health issues.

The day draws attention to essential health concerns for mothers and families.

Pregnancy is a time that can make women more vulnerable to mental illness, and that can impact on a woman’s ability to function and thrive.

It may also directly affect the child, with long-lasting physical, cognitive and emotional outcomes.

Many migrant women face increased difficulties during that time; they miss their families and often spending the day alone while their husbands are at work.

SBS Bangla spoke with one pregnant migrant woman and mental health instructor.
