SBS VICELAND and will provide all the action from March 1-4, with live and free coverage of all sessions, as well as full replays and more available for Australian audiences.

More than 700 competitors from 130 countries are expected to take part in the indoor event, one set to whet the appetite of every athletics fan ahead of the Paris Olympic Games in July.

Former world champion Eleanor Patterson headlines Australia's squad for the biennial event, with Olympic silver medallist Nicola Olyslagers joining her in the women's high jump.

The pair are two of seven athletes set to don the green and gold, with Jessica Hull, Kurtis Marschall, Catriona Bisset, Linden Hall, and Michelle Jenneke also included.

Patterson believes the presence of the Olympics will help propel Australian athletes to new heights in 2024, with Glasgow representing another chance for the 27-year-old to earn a fourth consecutive global medal.
"It’s a big but very exciting year this year," Patterson said. "Everyone puts their heart and soul into their preparation, and being an Olympic year, you see incredible performances and people rising to the occasion and having performances of their lives."

"Women’s high jump right now is certainly an impressive field and I know I’ll be up against very tough competitors," she added.

"All I can do is back myself and go out there, and put my best foot forward. I think medals this year will be needing a two-metre plus jump to be snapped up.

"I believe in myself going into this and I believe in those around me who help me each and every step of the way."

Marschall and Hull, too, have won medals in World Athletics competition, the latter taking bronze last year in Budapest six months after Hull's heroics on home soil in the mixed relay.

Australian record holders Bisset, Hall and Jenneke will travel to Scotland looking for glory of their own on the indoor stage, with Athletics Australia's general manager of high performance, Andrew Faichney, describing the squad as one of the strongest ever assembled for this type of meet.

"This team is one of the strongest teams we have ever sent to a World Athletics Indoor Championships and I have every reason to believe that this cohort of athletes can add to Australia’s rich history of success at these championships," Faichney said.

"Four global medallists in the mix as well as our fastest athletes over a number of distances is a statement of intent, and with preparation for the Olympic Games only intensifying, I’m looking forward to seeing our athletes lay down their work at the first major championships of the year."
