Musician of the moment Lizzo has appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, opening up about her astronomical success, dealing with heartbreak, and the positive message behind her music.
Shot by queer photographer David LaChapelle, the iconic music magazine was quickly applauded online for celebrating Lizzo's body shape, not trying to hide it.
"Shout-out to David LaChapelle and Rolling Stone’s styling team for celebrating Lizzo’s frame versus hiding it," one fan wrote on Twitter. "This is what I’ve been waiting for."
The colourful photo shoot includes shots of the star playing her trademark flute completely naked.
In an interview with Rolling Stone writer Brittany Spanos, the 'Truth Hurts' singer explained that she felt motivated to make music that empowers marginalised communities, particularly black women, big black women, and member of the trans community.
“As a black woman, I make music for people, from an experience that is from a black woman,” she told the magazine.
“I’m making music that hopefully makes other people feel good and helps me discover self-love. That message I want to go directly to black women, big black women, black trans women. Period.”

The star went on to mention that there are “hella white people” at her shows, especially since the success of 'Truth Hurts', which was originally released in 2017 but didn't hit the charts until 2019.
“What am I gonna do, turn them away?” she joked. “My music is for everybody.”
